Construction update

4/9/09

The dust has settled on the demolition of Canberra's landmark Embassy Motel and construction is well underway on The Ambassador apartments.

Five excavators weighing up to 65 tonnes and scooping up to 3 cubic meters at a time, worked on the Embassy Motel's demolition. Rubble was then sorted into masonry, concrete, timber and metal for recycling and disposal.

The site was cleared last month and bulk earthworks are almost complete. The footings for each of the buildings have commenced, and the basement slab will be poured over the coming months. As the construction proceeds, you will notice that all four of the apartment buildings will be built, one level at a time. The lift core will also be constructed one level at a time, rather than as an initial tower.

If you have a chance to visit the site you'll notice the stunning views towards the Brindabella Mountains that were previously obscured by the original building. As one of four possible and distinctly Canberran views that are available at apartments in The Ambassador, it certainly is impressive.

Our display suite is open Wednesday to Sunday or by appointment (see below) and includes a full display kitchen, master bedroom and ensuite for your consideration.
