Everything including the kitchen sink will be up for sale when the contents of the Embassy Motel go under the hammer on 31 May at 1.00pm.
The motel will close its doors shortly before the sale starts on 31 May in preparation for its demolition to make way for The Ambassador, Canberra’s new prestige apartment complex.
The Ambassador is being developed by Canberra Investment Corporation Limited (CIC), but before the walls come down, the company has put the entire contents of the motel up for sale.
Kitchen equipment, bedding, bathroom fittings and furniture are among the items that will go. CIC’s National Sales and Marketing Manager, Caroline Whitelum, said the sale would ensure nothing useful would go to waste, while also giving Canberrans a chance to claim a souvenir or two from the iconic and much-loved old motel.
“The motel itself has seen better days but much of the furniture and fittings inside are still in great condition so we want to see it all go to a good home,” Ms Whitelum said.
Work will commence on The Ambassador shortly, bringing prestige designer apartment living to Deakin for the first time. Construction of The Ambassador will start in June.
