Going going gone!

The iconic Embassy Motel is no more. Demolition of the motel started less than two weeks ago to make way for The Ambassador apartments, and the last of the original building came down yesterday.

During the demolition process, building materials have been carefully sorted and sifted for recycling and to minimise land fill. Bricks and concrete are recycled into road base, while all metal and much of the timber is also reused. All of the doors and most of the glass windows were removed whole prior to the main demolition process, and room contents were auctioned off last month to regional motel operators, businesses and souvenir hunters.

The Salvation Army received hundreds of blankets to assist their "Share the Warmth" winter appeal; and Home in Queanbeyan received $30,000 worth of room fitouts and facilities from the original motel.

We look forward to seeing construction of The Ambassador apartments commence over the coming weeks, and will incorporate images onto our website from late next week so that you can keep track of the progress.
